The star WR 134, which is visible at the center of this image (HD191765), is a unique star. In our galaxy, only about 250 similar stars have been discovered so far. The star is rapidly losing its mass. The colorful nebula around the star formed because of the collision of the original material ejected by the star with its intense stellar wind, which strikes this material at high speed. The star has a high surface temperature of around 65,000 K and a mass 20 times greater than our Sun. The star's luminosity is more than 400,000 times higher than that of the Sun.

I captured this image using a refracting telescope SW Esprit 120ED and a monochrome camera QHY268M. The total integration time was 30 hours and 8 minutes. The image has been processed in accordance with the HOO color palette, and RGB stars have been added as well.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
