Description

This is a small galaxy group is located about 200 million light years away in the constellation of Cetus at a declination of +1 degrees.   It is an unusual Hickson group in that all 4 galaxies have NGC designations.  The galaxies are at a similar distance away, but still far enough part to prevent much disturbance in their disks.  The top galaxy is a lenticular while the bottom 3 are spiral galaxies.

The brightest galaxy, 7a (NGC 192), is a 12.6 magnitude galaxy spanning 2.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a Milky Way like diameter of 130,000 light years.

The Hubble image is shown in Revision C.  I did not include it in the mouseover comparison as I usually do, since the Hubble image only captured 2-1/2 of the 4 Hickson galaxies.
