Description

This image was composed from data collected over several short midsummer Canadian nights when the best we have for darkness is 6 hours of astronomical twilight. Imaging with narrowband (H-alpha, OIII, SII) filters gives us some ability to collect useful data when the sky is too bright for LRGB imaging.  This of course limits us to objects that shine brightly in narrowband wavelengths. The Crescent Nebula is one such object, its luminosity powered by an energetic Wolf-Rayet star (HD 192163 in the plate-solved image above) .

Title: Crescent Nebula in HSO

Description: This is a re-process of the earlier version. A great summer target for those living in high latitudes in the N Hemisphere, where the short nights limit us to targets nearer the zenith. I was hoping to have caught the Soap Bubble but I seem to have missed with this framing.
