A new filter - the Baader UHC-L L-Booster (CMOS optimized) makes a welcome appearance. With increasing light pollution, especially from newer LED street lighting, my old LPR filters are fast becoming redundant. This new filter is optimized to remove 'skyglow' from blue LED, whilst gently enhancing Ha and OIII emission lines, and maintaining natural RGB stars. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with my first test. An emission rich region around the bright magnitude 2 star Sadr (gamma Cygnii), shows up clearly in a short 50 minute integration, without the usual halos I'm used to seeing with my Optolong L-eNhance filter.

Although a tilt test was satisfactory, the backspacing is not quite right, using my Meade SCT 0.63 reducer, I achieved a focal length of 410mm, this should be nearer 340mm. Nevertheless, Siril and Astrosharp magic has produced an acceptable image at full resolution Bin 1x1 for my Altair 183C hypercam. It would be interesting to do a RGB (UV/IR), L-eNhance and UHC-L booster comparison under the same conditions, to see how well this filter works under my semi-rural/suburban Bortle 5 skies. Title: Binned 2x2 to boost SNR

Description: Binning has helped boost SNR and saturation, giving a more natural hydrogen colour. Sadr is overblown and a halo is evident with this filter with aggressive stretch - it is a bright star! I like the contrasts, dark rifts and bok globules.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
