Description

Introducing Flipper!

This amazing nebula looks like a dolphin and as such, it is commonly referred to as .... the Dolphin Nebula (Sharpless 308 / Sh2 308 / RCW 11 or LBN 1052).

There is an amazingly bright star at the centre called the Wolf Rayet star EZ Canis Majoris (way too hard to pronounce for a recovery Boxing Day!). This beauty is 4,500 light years away from Earth.

Some nerdy stuff:
Scope: Esprit 100ED
Mount: Skywatcher AZEQ6
Camera: ZWO 2600MM Pro
Filters: Antila 3nm - Ha / O3
Others: Primalucelab Eagle, Esatto 3", usual guiding scope and camera - ZWO 120mm
Total Imaging: 9.5 hours (46 x Ha, 75 x O3 all 6 minute subs - 360s)
Processing: Pixinsight and Adobe Photoshop
Images taken in December 2022, North Manly, Sydney Australia
