Description

This object is a pair of tiny interacting galaxies located 400 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +59 degrees. Each galaxy spans just over 30 arc-seconds in our apparent view, about the same size to us as the planet Jupiter. The actual diameter of each galaxy is about 75,000 light years. I like the color contrast between these 2 galaxies.

NGC 6376 is the blue irregularly shaped galaxy on the right. The galaxy appears severly disturbed, with a bright wavy core and an oddly shaped outer region.

NGC 6377 is an edge-on yellow spiral which doesn’t appear nearly as disturbed as its companion, although the core is oddly offset to the left.

A faint star stream bridge appears to connect these two galaxies.
