Description

First attempt at using Sequator for an astro-landscape shot.

I struggled with my camera connection while we were away and ended up capturing this using Magic Lantern's intervalometer instead of SGPro.  First time out with this lens as well and focus wasn't great.  (Tough to focus using the DSLR screen at night, so I just accepted what I got.)

This is shot from the deck of our AirBnB in Boswell, BC.  (A converted goat barn.)  13 x 15-second exposures at 1600 ISO using an astro-modified T4i and Rokinon 14mm lens at f/2.8.  View is west across Lake Kootenay just a little after midnight.  Exposure and colour tweaked in ART.  Haven't played around with this in PixInsight at all yet and there are a few obvious issues with it, but I'm happy enough with it for a first attempt.

Final image has been re-processed using PixInsight.  Added one 30 minute exposure of the foreground taken at 200 ISO.  Sky images aligned using Dynamic Alignment tool.  Stretched separately with a mask applied before combining foreground and sky using PixelMath.  The alignment process left a bit of a "shadow" appearance along the horizon...  I could probably clean this up with a gradient mask, but for now I'm happy with the results.

Description: Same data as previous with addition of a 30 minute exposure for the foreground. Combined in PixInsight instead of Sequator this time. Sky images aligned using Dynamic Alignment process tool. Not perfect yet as the mask I used created a bit of a "shadow" along the horizon, but far less noisy and without the annoying star trails. :)
