Description

Imaged this interesting pair on September 05, 2023, with a 5" refractor.  Was imaged remotely from Australia. The site, Siding Springs , is  located about 31 degrees South.
47 Tucanae is the second brightest globular in the sky after Omega Centauri.  It is about 13,000 light years from us, while the SMC is 200,000 light years away.
The SMC is an irregular dwarf galaxy, with about 7 billion solar masses.
90 minutes of integration: 5x5 minutes each with R, G, B filters + 5x3 minutes each Lum, all binned (1:1).     Processed  with Pixinsight, and small adjustments in Adobe.
Always wanted to image this pair, as it forms such an intriguing group.   The camera has a 4096 x 4096 array, and a 188' x 188' FOV, a good fit for this object.
Regards, Tom Schmidtkunz
