Description

After many cloudy weeks, had a nice break. Still working on fully setting up my backyard AG Optical FA12. But after a while you just want to go out there and get new data. On the second night I had only a few hours before the clouds wanted to roll in, so I decided to capture RGB stars. After examining my stacked RGB stars, I noticed there were a few lines of streaks that started as red then green, then blue in the final stacked and combined image. I realized after I went back and blinked the raw files that these were asteroids, and because I did not dither to grab the RGB stars  the rejection algorithm did not take them out. So I went down a rabbit hole trying to identify and animate those asteroids. There were three named asteroids that were visible in the image.

Asteroid Matra:

Asteroid Spallanzani:

I think I enjoyed hunting for the names of those asteroids just as much as I enjoyed imaging the target!
