Description

One of the greats of the Southern skies. Large and brighter than the Orion Nebula it is located around 8500 light years from us. It contains some of the most luminous stars in the galaxy including Eta Carinae which flared up in 1837 and briefly became the brightest star in our sky.

This is my first true SHO image. I captured Ha and OIII with my OSC camera using the Optolong L-eXtreme and I took SII subs using an Optolong 6.5nm SII filter.

37x300s - L-eXtreme
48x300s - SII
