Description

NGC 6979, Pickering's Triangle. A supernova remnant about 5000-8000 years old. It lies about 2600 light years away. I was able to get good images in all three narrowband filters, so instead of doing the usual HOO combination that I have used in the past, I decided to try O-H-S. I believe it gives the best details of all the combinations (SHO, HOS, HSO, OSH, HOO), but it is definitely different. Added RGB stars. I hope you like this version.
