Description

First light with an iOptron Photron 8 inch Ritchey-Chrétien Telescope RC8. This is an HαRGB combination (Hα used as luminance). I wanted to test the RGB star colors with this telescope - I'm pretty happy with the result. Focal length is right at 1620. The field is pretty well corrected for the sensor - only some slight elongation in the corners. Perhaps refining the collimation will flatten it even more.

Collimation was definitely more challenging than an SCT - in fact, it still needs a little refinement. But, there are certainly some advantages to the RC design.
