Description

An OSC image of NGC-4372 with Sa-149, the Dark Doodad

As the rains continue here this week, I'm catching up on processing a spare drive of older imagery. This data is from a stay in Costa Rica in 2020.

I'd attempted to process it before without success but the newer AI noise reduction and star removal tools made it possible this time.

It was a challenge: globular cluster NGC4372 crossed the meridian at just under 8 degrees altitude, so we are seeing through quite a bit of humid air with the blue signal down in the noise. It's the most southerly object I've captured to date.
