Description

This is Sirius, one of the brightest stars of our night sky.
For the attached image I followed these steps:
1. I centered Sirius in the middle of the frame.
2. I defocused enough to see how the colors change.
3. I took about 20-25 frames using a short exposure time, but without underexposing the subject.
4. I selected some images (9 in this case) and "pasted" them in Photoshop.
5. I finished with a light editing in Lightroom.
The good part is that there is no need for a mount, tracker, or any fancy equipment, a DSLR, a telephoto lens and a tripod being enough.
As an example, I used a Canon 70D and a Skywatcher 72ED telescope (420mm), the settings used being ISO 6400 and 1/30 sec.
It is not a complicated image, but it is one of the most "festive" images I have and I chose it to celebrate the arrival of the new year.
Happy new year to everyone !
