Description

The intriging Spaghetti nebula (Simeis 147 or SH2-240), only known since 1951, is a rather faint supernova remnant mainly radiating Ha light in the visual spectrum. It is located in the constellation Taurus. The dimension is 3°, 6 times the full Moon diameter.During an extreme long period of bright weather in March (for the Netherlands) I gathered in total 12h10m in 146 subs of 300s during 4 consecutive evenings from my backgarden (with a good view of the Southern sky). This was just enough to reveal some of the radiated OIII light. After basic preprocessing in Siril, I used Photoshop to get some interesting colour variation in the nebula by increasing the OIII information in the G and B channels and decreasing the overwhelming Ha signal. Starnet++v2 was very useful to extract the stars in order to process the nebula itself. I made the stars smaller before adding them to the final picture of the nebula.
