Description

My 1st attempt at capturing IC443. Due to clouds I had to ditch most of my lights. I went ahead and processed what I had and plan on collecting more data on this beautiful target. The Jellyfish Nebula is a galactic supernova remnant located in the constellation Gemini. A supernova that's presumed to have happened 3,000-30,000 yrs ago. The collapsed remnant of the stellar core producing a neutron star caused by the same supernova event. The Jellyfish Nebula is also one of the best studied supernova remnants due to its interactions with near by molecular clouds. IC 443 is about 5,000 lights yrs from Earth. I was able to keep only 5-120sec frames and 19-180sec frames. Making for a short data list for this target. I integrated those 24 light frames with 200 Flats, 120 Darks(60 each exposure) and 60 Dark Flats. All captured in my backyard located in Bortle 4 sky's.
