Description

Poor to average seeing, but I had the next day off from work and a new camera (ZWO ASI183MM) I bought specifically for wide-field lunar imaging and several hours before clouds were due to roll in. This was the time, and I decided to make a go of it. In the full resolution view, you'll notice the rebounds in darker craters and along the edge of the limb are quite evident. I kept a light touch on processing in Astra Image, in my opinion, but the seeing also contributes to rebounds in images. I employed a Baader 610nm filter to combat some of the seeing at the expense of some resolution and still keep an acceptable frame rate. Still, this is the type of field I was hoping for. I hope with higher apparent elevations and better seeing, I can capture similar detail over a field this size with no rebounding within areas of extreme differences in contrast.
