Description

Well, it is what it is. This is data I collected while testing my new ZWO ASI533MC-Pro, and then the clouds came and I wasn't able to collect any additional time until 2024 (see more recent M45). Add to that the fact that M45 clips eves & chimneys and trees every hour or so when I try and image it, I have a feeling this might be it until next year. So I thought I'd have a go at processing it, and despite the lack of fine detail I was pleasantly surprised by how much of the fainter dusty areas showed up.

One takeaway from this data is that I have some bad reflections (which I did my best to clone-stamp out) which might be improved by moving the filter closer to my camera. To that end I've ordered a filter drawer, and we'll see how that works. I haven't had that issue with other targets, so it might just be an M45 thing.

It's arguably better than my last M45 with no filter or flattener, so I thought it worth sharing. Wishing you all clear skies and, where applicable, a happy holiday season!
