Description

In spite of high humidity the condition was reatively favorable thanks to somewhat quiet air. Using the opportunity I plugged a tubeless 2x barlow into the tube of a standard 2x barlow resulting in about 3.3x magnification, thus nearly 7000mm focal length with the Crayford focuser.

Though the image scale is way beyond the C8's resolution power the so enlarged Jupiter came out much better than expected. May quiet air be blessed in eternity alongside prayers for good collimation. There is hardly anything one can do about edge ringing (planets and lunar surface). Sometimes it is there, notable or neglectable, sometimes it is not showing up at all.

The moon images were recorded during daytime with an ASI290MM (IMX290) and an IR-pass filter. The 8-panel mosaic was taken after sunset with the same filter but threaded to a Neptune-M camera sporting an IMX178 sensor. Libration was favorable at +6.7° in latitude and +4.3° in longitude as was the lunar distance at 370.500 km (size 32.3'). Planets are inserted to equal image scale.

Since it was still clear after imaging the Moon and Jupiter I went inside for a quick supper before changing gears for imaging the Pleiades. As I stepped outside the sky was almost 100% cloud covered all to the sudden. To hell with gluttony, I need spiritual welfare.
