Description

I was excited when I was shooting this target as I was going to have quite a bit of total integration time, more than I normally do. At one point during the nights of imaging I switched cameras, going back and forth between the ZWO ASI2600MM and ASI2600MC. I did this to test out the difference in imaging with a color camera vs a mono. I've always seen the comparison in images posted online but wanted to see for myself. At one point during the transition I must have changed the camera orientation and my excitement to process this data quickly turned to disappoint when I realized that I was going to have to make a significant crop because of the different orientations. The green channel was portrait oriented while the L, R and B channels were landscape oriented. I learned that I could synthesize a green channel in Photoshop, but decided to just move forward with the cropped version. In the end, I think it turned out OK.

Description: I reprocessed this image using the new Pixinsight spectrophotometric color calibration process and Blur Xterminator script. I was never really happy with the colors in the original image, SPCC seems to have done a good job. The Blur Xterminator script didn't pull out much more detail but did a phenomenal job with the stars.

The other reason I reprocessed this image is that it's been weeks (4-6, no joke) since I had clear skies good enough to image. This has all been the result of me getting a new mount and scope :(
