Description

This is my first project with a Newtonian telescope. I had quite some trouble with collimation and cooling compared to a refractor. I got an 8" f/5 newtonian from TS optics and I got a nice reducer from Starizona (Nexus 0.75x). The total cost of the setup is half of a good refractor / SCT. I was a bit worried that the quality won't be that good.

In the end I was very happy with the result. I took the same image with a refractor (Askar 107), and in the end I didn't notice any quality difference, even my astro-beginner wife thought the Newtonian was better, or at least the same quality to the rafractor.

It's roughly one hour of data, that's all I can afford over weeks in Germany these days...

Clear skies!
