There are definitely a lot of NGC 2174 (Monkey Nebula) images on Astrobin, so I've added one more. I like the freedom of narrow band and took advantage of that to use some new techniques - at least new for me. After combining and performing regular processing on the SHO image, i use Narrow Band Normalization on the starless image to adjust the colors and felt was quite useful. After further adjustments with LHE and MMT, I used Selective Color Correction to further adjust the colors. That script has many useful mask options and the ability to add or subtract primary and complementary colors. I then combined the RGB masters and ultimately combined the RGB image with the Lum. After fairly routine processing, I extracted the stars. Next I used the Image Blend script (using Soft Light blend mode) to combine the outer portion of the RGBL image with the SHO image. This allowed me to maintain the the center blue area and and give what I feel is an interesting tone to the outer portion of NGC 2174. The final step was to add back the RGBL stars and use the star reduction script to deemphasize them slightly.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
