Description

The beautiful and vain Cassiopeia, queen of Ethiopia, angered the god Poseidon so much that the latter sent a sea monster to ravage the coasts of her kingdom. To appease the wrath of the sea monster, her husband, King Cepheus, had to sacrifice her own daughter Andromeda. As befits every mythological tale, the hero arrived: Perseus, fresh from having killed Medusa, fell madly in love with Andromeda and saved her.
In order not to forget the story, the gods of Olympus placed all the protagonists in the heavens.
Right across the border between Cassiopeia and Perseus are the beautiful Heart and Soul nebulae (which looks like a small fetus) and the double cluster of Perseus depicted here.
