Description

Bode's Galaxy was discovered in 1774 by the German astronomer Johann Elert Bode. It is a grand design galaxy with a diameter of 90,000 light years, located at around 11.8 million light years from Earth. At its core is a massive black hole, with a mass of 70 million solar masses, about 15 times the mass of the Milky Way's black hole [1].

This image came out of a few nights when I was trying to get the collimation and guiding of the RC sorted out; Bode's galaxy is always above our horizon and is in a good star field, so it's a convenient target for jobs like this.
