These days, there aren’t any starry nights, just cloudy nights and grey days … which means I’m jumping if there is a sudden clear patch where the sun comes through … This one 5 days after my previous sun-capture

A quick capture of our Sun on a wintery Saturday afternoon, quickly before it was veiled by a white wall of clouds.

The big octopus eye of AR3190 has already scrolled over to the eastern side, compared to my previous capture of 20230118. Only five days have gone by, but the sun has already made quite a turn

Apparently our social interactions have come to the point where in some place we need a “National Hugging Day” to remind people that we should express our feelings to each other by extending a warm hug to the people we love, or just in general, the people we encounter in our lives

Luckily, many of us only need the sun to remind us of that. A warm glowing hug from the sun during these wintery days. I’m glad for the warm hug she gave me, and I’ve extended that to my loved ones

This time I tried to create an 'inverted' sun image, that is supposed to show the surface of the sun in more contrast (attempting to do this in Photoshop, but I still need to sharpen my skills)

*** Never look at the sun (through a telescope, binoculars or directly) without appropriate protection (filter, etc …) ***

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status.
