Description

I admit it, I am slow in processing images... this one was captured in February... Astrohotography is intensive in money and ... time!!

In this ocasion, and after an extenous and stressful spring, I managed to finish this Aristarchus and Vallis Schröteri. I guess that I can add little of these superb and well known moon features. My goal was to capture the colors of this region and get it well balance with the high dynamic range derived from the dark maria and high albedo of the crater.

As of the image itself, it is a mosaic of 5 parts, one center at the center (the crater) and the other 4 parts centred at the corners of the first. I do this to maximize the best part of the optics (the centered part), this is a belief i have, but not sure to be right, though. In any case, the 5 images (around 40000 to 50000 frames each) allow for variations in seeing and sometimes some variations in quality consistency across the image....but I guess that's life...

Of those frames, I kept the 10 % of them (autostakkert) and then process with registax. Further details of the process can be found in the Version C, containing a detailed description of the workflow.

Very happy to share this image with you, take care and have wonderful AP nights out there!

Guillermo
