Has been a bucket list image for me ever since I saw the iconic Hubble image. So why not take it on as your first NB image! (Not recommended. LOL)
This was a first for me in many ways:
- This is my first major AP image with NB filters and my new EdgeHD 8". (Big leap from a non-ACF 8" Meade SCT from the early 2000s.)
- I started late in the window and thus, did not get all the data I wanted, still noisy.
- Additionally, all my data was low altitude and some was taken below 30 degrees.
- And since it was my first serious NB image, I was still working out a few issues with my collimation, light leaks, and other minor issues.
- So with all that, why not learn PI at the same time. This was the first image I created in PI.
Given all those challenges, I am very happy with the image overall. I hope to add data to it next year to clean up the stars better and work on the noise. Overall, very proud to post this image.
