Description

I'm not sure why I never got to M11 before now. It's a great open cluster and I'm glad I finally stopped neglecting it!

Processing:
RGB:
channel combination
ABE
SPCC
blurxtterminator
GHS (a few iterations being careful not to clip)
noiseXterminator
curves (contrast, very slight color boost)
unsharp mask (very mild sharpening)
dynamic crop

The stretch is the big challenge for something like this. I wanted to bring out the dark nebulae but not blow out the stars. The approach I settled on was a couple of small GHS stretches followed by a linear move to the left, then another GHS stretch. The GHS stretches made fairly heavy use of highlight protection. The GHS stretches used the RGB blend color mode but I had to keep that fairly conservative or else the bigger stars got colored rings around them from being overly saturated.
