Description

The skies over Georgia have been so fickle with a mixture of sun, clouds, rain & thunderstorms this past few weeks. Digging through old acquisition data, I came across image captures from last year of the Rosette Nebula and felt more could be done to bring out the beauty of this popular astronomical wonder!

Remembering back on Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” I decided to give the popular deep sky object (DSO), hopefully a better image processing than my last attempt.

The Rosette Nebula’s image was taken using a single shot dedicated color astronomy camera, ASI2600mc Pro; exposure time was a little more than two hours. The camera temperature was a chilling -25 Celsius. The filter used was a Radian Triad Ultra Quad band filter and the optical instrument used was an Explore Scientific 165mm APO air-spaced triplet refractor.
