Description

Trifid Nebula in HaRGB

----------------------

The Trifid Nebula is a region which consists of a bright emission nebula (red) and a faint reflection nebula (blue) surrounding a star cluster.

The red part of the nebula is caused by the absorption & re-emission of the stars' radiation by hydrogen gas.

The blue part of the nebula is caused by the same radiation being reflected/scattered by faint interstellar dust.

The dark areas throughout the nebula are created by opaque/dense interstellar dust blocking this radiation.

This image was created by combining 8 hours of Hydrogen-alpha & 8.5 hours of colour data I collected in May & June 2020.

----------------------

Total imaging time: 16.5 hours (8 hours in H-alpha + 8.5 hours in color)

Telescope: Sky-Watcher Evostar ED100 Black Diamond

Camera: ZWO ASI294MC Pro

Mount: AZ-EQ6 Pro
