Description

Messier 106 is a spiral galaxy in constellation Canes Venatici. It lies 22 to 25 light years distant and is receding at 537 km/sec.

Interesting note: one of the smaller galaxies in this image, NGC is 364 million light years distant. When these photons left that galaxy, Earth was in the midst of the Devonian Mass Extinction. 75% of life on Earth at that time (mostly sea creatures, fishes, ferns and some rudimentary trees, along with the first amphibians) went extinct.

First light with TOA 35 Reducer. May need to tweak backfocus a bit, star shapes seem a bit off.
