Description

The Horsehead and Flame nebulae are over 1300 light years from earth and part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The shape of the horse head is a dark dust cloud in from of a bright emission nebula and is one of the most iconic nebula you'll ever see. The smaller nebula to the left of the Horsehead is NGC 2023, an emission and reflection nebula.

Astrofckup: the stars in the corners are warped and it means my back focus is out, I decided to proceed with imaging as I have an extension tube coming. The camera sensor is too close to the field flattener in this case. The image also came out extremely noisy after stacking, realised that I was clipping in the red channel so should have increased gain and/or offset to push the red peak to the right in the histogram. The histogram looked great in Kstars but was clearly clipped in AstroPixelProcessor, lesson learned!
