Description

I recently brought my Tak FSQ85 and RST-135 mount with me on a trip to Australia where I spent two weeks chasing clear skies.  It turns out that's a very hard thing to do in Australia this season due to the effects of La Nina on the weather patterns.  When I did find clearish skies, I was usually dealing with a high thin cirrus layer.  I did manage six nights of imaging over the two weeks at two different sites in Queensland.  During the trip I focused on targets that are either not available or too low on the horizon to image well from home.

This is the Running Chicken nebula in a traditional SHO pallet shot from a Bortle 1 site at Mt Mulligan QLD.  This was a filler target that I shot early in the evenings while waiting for more primary targets to gain altitude.  Therefore it is a rather short 3hr total integration time and I look forward to adding data to this project on a future trip.  Still I am happy with the result, especially the resolution of the little planetary nebula PK294-00.1 that is visible at the top of the frame.
