Description

This is my second take on the subject. This time with twice the focal length than before hence the smaller field of view (even excusing the the cropping applied to the final stack-up). The first set of images were taken somewhere between end of October and beginning of November 2015 but the exact date is now lost in the mist of time. It was done to test (2nd take, the first one being M42, so predictable...) the then newly modified 40D.The second set of images were taken few days ago to improve upon the S/N and also to test guiding with the CI-700 (the 2015 set was taken with the GP-DX). Nowadays the 40D shows the limitation of a 13 years old technology though in its heydays it was quite a capable camera. Still I don't have any other astro-modified camera so this one needs make do.

The image shows some obvious bleeding near the brightest stars, to a various extent. Not sure that I noticed that the first time around but it is more likely due to the increase frame exposure length. The halos I suppose are a combination of camera and glass effects, I guess it just is the price to pay when you use refractors.
