Description

IC 2177 (more commonly referred as the Seagull Nebula) is a region of nebulosity that lies along the border between the constellations Monoceros and Canis Major. It is mainly an HII emission nebula shaped in the form of a very big bird, that includes NGC 2327, commonly referred as the Parrot Head Nebula.

This image was captured during november and december of 2019. Because Halpha light is predominant in the nebula, i had to increase the exposition time of the OIII subs, to get more color variation. The nebula covers a vast region of the sky, so i centered in its central part.

This is a narrowband Hubble Palette version. The red channel is made of the Sulphur II data, the green channel is made with the HAlpha data and the blue Channel is made with the Oxygen III data. This combination is useful to highlight the structures and details inside the nebula.
