Description

NGC 896 is the brightest, and earliest discovered, part of what is called the Heart Nebula (with  Westerhout 4 actually designating the gas nebula). I always think it looks like a fish and the "final" revision shows that - but have a look at revision B for a different rendition. It's located in the Perseus arm of our Milky Way and its distance is about 7500 light years.
