Description

I was intrigued by the broad, dark streaks stretching across the center of this low-angle illumination scene. Clavius and Tycho are at the far dim left, Maginus between them, Stoefler-Faraday complex in center and Miller (with the small central peak) just above Stoefler.

Debris rays in direct illumination are generally high-albedo, lighter than surrounding surface. But perhaps the low-angle sun here makes these rays appear darker? They appear to emanate from the area of Tycho, the Moon’s most prominent source of debris rays when viewed from a wide angle.
