Description

LBN 1085/SH2-312 (HII Region)

LBN 1085/SH2-312 (Lynds Bright Nebula catalog and SH2-312 in Sharpless catalog) is part of a large HII region including LBN 1078 and LBN 1083 and other smaller nebulosity areas as showing in the picture below (a jet plane ?)

My image shows the northern part (the cockpit ?) of this very large HII region. I love the flowing filaments of the hydrogen gas prominent in this image and I intend to create a 4-6 panel mosaic to contain most of this region. If you look carefully at the top left, you will notice a tiny galaxy, NGC2888, about 58" in size, which lies at a distance of 120 millions light years from earth !!!
