Description

From 5h 5m of LRGB data. The mouse-over inset is about 2x. There are several interesting objects in NGC-6946, the Fireworks galaxy. You can read about them here.

NGC-6939 is sometimes called the Ghost Bush Cluster. NGC-6946 is 25 M ly away. NGC-6939 is an open cluster in the Milky Way, and it is only 4 K ly away.

I've processed this image to downplay the interstellar medium, but these objects are near the dusty plane of the Milky Way. NGC-6946 is only about 15° from Deneb.
