Description

This is probably my favorite astro-image so far! I used the ISS Transit Finder App to figure out the precise time the ISS would make a pass right in front of the Moon from my location. The challenge is similar to shooting a total solar eclipse...but with a much narrower shadow path; by narrower I mean about an order of magnitude (power of 10) smaller making positioning the equipment in the right location a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, a major city park was up the road from my place of residence. I had some trouble controlling the camera's frame rate. So rather than the 10 or so frames you usually see in ISS transit images I only have three. My camera was shooting only 5 frames a second by the time of the transit, and ISS's transit time was only 0.62 seconds So I got exactly three separate frames recording the Space Station. These 3 frames were integrated into the total stack of 375 frames to form the image seen above.
