Description

This object is a spiral galaxy located 60 million light years away in the southern constellation of Cetus at a declination of -21 degrees. The galaxy spans 6 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 100,000 light years.

This galaxy is seen 20 degrees from edge-on in our apparent view. The galaxy is classified as a starburst galaxy - many star clusters and Ha regions can be seen throughout its disk.

The right side of the disk looks disturbed, with the arm splitting it several places. I see no visible companion responsible for this disturbance.
