NGC 2029 (also known as ESO 56-EN156 or the Dragon's Head Nebula) is an emission nebula in the Dorado constellation and is part of the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is part of a complex of nebulae and stars, including NGC 2032NGC 2035 and NGC 2040.[4] It was discovered by James Dunlop on the 27 September 1826. Its apparent magnitude is 12.29, and its size is 2.25 arc minutes.[2]The coordinates for NGC 2029 and NGC 2030 were reversed between Herschel's original Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars and the New General Catalogue. NGC 2030, originally GC 2029, is an isolated nebula with an embedded star cluster, about 1.5 degrees north of NGC 2029.NGC 2029 is a Supernova Remnant located in the constellation of Dorado in the southern hemisphere. NGC 2029 is called NGC 2029 in the New General Catalogue (NGC). This catalogue is a list of deep space objects compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888 to update John Herschel's earlier work. NGC 2029 is not a Messier Object and doesn't have a Messier Number. NGC 2029 LocationNGC 2029's location is 05 35 15.5 (R.A.) and -67 34 04 (Dec.). They are celestial equivalents of Longitude and Latitude. The right ascension (longitude) is the angular distance of an object along the celestial equator from the March Equinox. As a rough guide, the March Equinox is located in the constellation of Pisces. If the number is negative, it is "west" of the March Equinox.

The declination (latitude) is the supernova remnant's angle from the celestial equator. A negative value indicates it is in the southern hemisphere.Based on the location of Dorado, NGC 2029 can be located in the southern hemisphere of the celestial sky. The celestial hemisphere is equivalent to the hemispheres on Earth. NGC 2029 is south of the Ecliptic. The Ecliptic is the path the Earth takes as it orbits the Sun. As the Earth is titled, we have Celestial and Ecliptic hemispheres.
