Description

NGC2867 is a small planetary nebula in Carina. Despite its small size, it is of interest as it is considered quite young - with an estimated age of only 2500 years or so. The central star is a wolf-rayet star which is unusual because such stars are very rare. Indeed, there are only a few dozen planetary nebulae known with this type of star at its centre. There also appears to be a faint OIII halo around the object which you can see if you zoom in on the image.
This is an HOO image taken with a Celestron C9.25 edge at F7. I did not have the time to capture more data.
