Description

In a captivating endeavour spanning two seasons, I captured the mesmerising beauty of the Andromeda galaxy using broadband and narrowband filters. All the broadband data was captured in the 2022 season, with an additional 38 hours of H-Alpha data. The 2023 season was dedicated to collecting some more H-Alpha data and all the Oxygen data.

This unique astrophotographic venture allowed me to reveal the previously unknown O-III structures in the Galactic disc and part of the O-III emission arc discovered by @Marcel Drechsler's team in late 2022.

Amidst this sea of H-alpha clouds are countless stars, ranging in colour from brilliant white to deep red. The galaxy's central core and many HII regions are also prominently visible, with the help of additional continuum subtraction in both the H-alpha and O-III channels.

This image has been completely reworked from scratch. New stacking parameters and some new stretching and blending techniques have been used to reveal even more structural detail than in my last edit. With an integration time of 146 hours at f/2.2 and a processing time of several weeks, I'm finally done with the Andromeda Galaxy with my current setup and focal length.
