Description

The Sombrero Galaxy (M104), about 31.1 million light-years aways, is a galaxy of unclear classification in the constellation borders of Virgo and Corvus. It has an isophotal diameter of approximately 94,900 to 105,000 light-years, making it slightly larger in size than the Milky Way. It has a bright nucleus, an unusually large central bulge, and a prominent dust lane in its outer disk, which is viewed almost edge-on. The dark dust lane and the bulge give it the appearance of a sombrero hat.

This image  was captured in a Queen Creek (Arizona) Bortle 7/8 backyard using a Skywatcher Esprit 150ED telescope. The telescope is mounted on a 10Micron GM2000 HPS II mount. The camera is a ZWO ASI 2600MM Pro using Antlia VPRO LRGB filters. It was captured over 5 nights (2023-01-26 to 2023-02-26). The images were stacked/processed in Pixinsight and fine-tuning done in Photoshop.
