Description

This is a rarely imaged area of Puppis.  The nebulosity here is large, dramatic but very faint.

Referred to by some as "The Mountain", I couldn't resist having a go at Mons Puppis or the Poop Mountain.

I also wanted to try an OSC image as 1) there aren't any of them on AB and 2) there are a couple of rather lovely star clusters (including a Caldwell object) in the frame and I haven't learned yet how do to stars properly in NB imaging.

Obtained almost 3 hours of subs on our 4hour nights here, before dew/fog intervened (I suspect global warming will ruin AP before satellites).

The emission is, as expected, very faint.  But I foo like the deep red edge "shock front" to the nebulosity with a yellower "wake".  Since no noise reduction was needed, I suspect that I am limited by the Milky Way background here, rather than the sky.

That is probably a reason why there are no OSC images of this area, but I hope folks will find it instructive.
