Description

This summer I completely changed my equipment. This was one of my first projects with the RASA 11 V2 and the full frame mono cam. Also my first SHO object with RGB stars. I have to admit, that I struggled a lot to get the system running. Had to built a small observatory to benefit from short clear windows to work on all the problems. I am still struggling with the mount and the tracking accuracy. I started with 2s exposures for the guidecam, but had to realize that the mount only responded after 3-4 or even more guiding impulses. I checked the polar alignment several times. I looked for cable dragging and balancing issues. I was not able to do 10s exposures without startrails (Guided and unguided). Ridiculous. With my 130mm refractor and the Skywatcher mount I could do 600s exposures without problems the same nights I could barely do 10s exposures with less focal length! I reduced the exposure of the guidecam to 0,5s and did some of the suggestions phd2 told me. I can now do 180s exposures but somehow still feel, that I have mechanical issues in the system.
That’s why some of the imaging sessions here show rather short subs. I mean with the RASA one could do shorter subs and will be ok, but it`s annoying!
The other thing is, that I don`t know how much bandshift my SI filter has. Will probably try to get another f2 filter for SI as well.
I am now 1,5 years in this hobby and still have to learn a lot. For this image I stacked the subs with APP registered them to each other also with APP and did everything else in Photoshop.
I am not really happy with the stars. The rgb subs all have these very small refraction spikes, which the narrowband subs did not show. Don´t like that so much.
And one could always go for more exposure time, but then ... there are so many cool objects out there and clear hours are very rare here in Austria. A lot of fog right now and often bad weather. With the mobile setup one could easily drive to the mountains, where at least normally is no fog, but it`s now bound to my observatory. No advantage without  disadvantage. Still could go to the mountains with other equipment!
Hope you like it. Critics are also welcome!
