Continuing my imaging of Venus during the 2019-2020 evening apparition. These images were captured on the night of March 9, 2020. Venus was 59% illuminated in this image. I worked with IR pass, UV-IR Cut, and a W47 violet filters this session. Best results obtained combining UV-IR Cut and IR Pass images in WinJupos. Results with the W47 filter were ok, but no cloud features were captured (later learned about the IR leak with the W47 filters and will try again with a IR cut filter in place).

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader 685 nm IR pass/Baader UV-IR Cut, and W47 filters, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture (see below for exposure settings). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 5% of ~27000 frames captured over 180 seconds). Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. Derotated and combined images in WinJUPOS.

Exposure settings:

685nm IR Pass filter images: Shutter=0.750ms, Gain=275 (45%), 150 FPS

UV-IR Cut Filter images: Shutter=0.750ms, Gain=250 (41%), 150 FPS

W47 Filter images: Shutter=2.200ms, Gain=200 (33%)

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
