Description

Ever wanted to know what the moon looks like through a layer of forest fire smoke? Well, this is your chance! Normally I am only used to seeing it this orange when it is really close to the horizon.

This is actually my first bonafide monochrome image, combining LRBG. After my moon adventures some months ago, I decided to commit fully to mono when it comes to planetary. I was also happy that a bahtinov mask test showed all the filters I cobbled together are parfocal, which is nice.

To get the whole moon, each channel is a 2-panel mosaic combining two halves of the moon. When combined, I was surprised it looked just like any old moon picture, so I had to mess with the colours to get is as close as I could to how it looked through my eyepiece.

Also included is one of those mineral moon shots! You can see the seams in this one because of how much I had to crank up the saturation.
