Description

When I tried to photograph this jewel of the night sky, M42 the Great Orion Nebula, no deliberate effort was made to framing the object. I merely used the GoTo hand controller to aim the telescope towards M42 and started to image. What appeared on my laptop screen was jaw-dropping. I had never seen before such an up-close high-resolution image of M42. The small pixels of ZWO ASI290MM camera combined with the 8-inch aperture fast f/3.9 Newtonian Astrograph (Orion) have helped to bring out subtle detail in the gaseous regions of the nebula. This is the core region of the nebula including stars of the trapezium.

This image of M42 was my first astrophotography with my new rig. Although I have imaged wonders of the night sky before, these are the first-light images from this setup. This is also my first-time ever imaging with emission line filters Ha, OIII, and SII and my first experience of processing images in the Hubble palette.

Thanks a lot to Trevor, Chuck, Dylan, and Galactic Hunters for taking the time out of their busy lives to share their experiences and knowledge with mankind. Their contributions are helping me and people like me who just started in astrophotography. They made this steep learning curve a lot easier to scale. I take my hat off to you wonderful folks.
